Watch this from 2:52 you will not believe it. (this is what most of the believers think is the truth)

There are standard, everyday morons and then there are flat earthers. They give the human race a bad name with their idiocy.

Yikes! They're as wacky as the global warming contingent! But as the guy sez, they'll be able to find out the truth when all the ice in Antarctica melts. Never, then.

When the ice melts we will all fall off the edge :tinhat: that is going to be one hell of a ride.

So...this ice...what is it supposed to be doing? Keeping the sea water from dropping off into space? So...the polar regions are frozen from the surface to the sea bed...why don't the polar bears and penguins fall off?
There is one thing...why,even if you was loaded and had a big boat and stuff you can't just go to the Arctic for a look-see..."they" don't want you to and will stop you ...

So you guys don’t think the earth is flat???
Is it a question of thinking? :p Or thinking it through? If they postulate that the earth is flat, then they also have to introduce proof for it, evidence, and a theory with which they can provide the same accuracy for calculating the tides, the phases of the moon, ways to launch satellites so that the weather and the clouds can be visualised, and proper explanations of other phenomena which can be explained by the Earth being a ball.

What these people do is think up to a certain point, but refuse to think further. Is the logical error the one of the moving goalpost or the no true scotsman?

Its amazing how this theory seems to be gaining popularity when it would have to be the most massive and pointless conspiracy going back to Christopher Columbus with every one whos travelled over the world since in on it. It also gaining traction in Christian groups even though the bible verses they use don't come close to saying the earth is flat. Just in case a flat earther reads this I suggest you track a load of international flights (or ships) which you can easily do and see what mental gymnastics you have to do to make the world flat.

Watching Saturday morning kids telly yesterday (with the kids) - even **** & Dom were capable of sending a camera up on a giant helium balloon to the point where you could quite clearly see the curvature of the Earth.
They must be in on the conspiracy too ashock1

I have been getting quite into Ancient Alien on the history channel though :tinhat:

I know someone who is a 'flat-earther'
He also thinks gravity is man made.
Satellites don't exist.
Pyramids are summat to do with alien spaceships.
etc etc etc
These fruitcakes seem to believe every theory/conspiracy that's possible to believe.
You'd never meet a flat-earther who believed we landed on the moon.

But worst of all, he drinks Carling in the pub.

All these idiocies are dreadful, but forgivable, to a degree, except for the Carling.
