My first TC is 3-weeks-in-the-bottle this very night and while it was drinkable before it's now pretty good.
To give myself a baseline I just did juice+yeast. Next batch will try adding tea.
Now I know how good something so easy (and cheap!) turns out, I reckon I'll make a batch every month alongside my other endeavours, so as to have enough to be able to leave a few bottles for Proper Aging.

Got a spare FV and it seems a shame for it to take up room empty

1 tsp Pectolas
24ltr Apple Juice
I cup tea
small pot of honey
500g raspberry whizzed up
1 wine yeast ( have no cider yeast  )

Having a all day brew day next saturday so if this goes well it could be in bottles this time next week

Hum this could be the answer to my current impatience waiting for wine  May have to pop one on this weekend - will it make much difference if I use wine yeast?

I've done 4 x 5 gallons of this now (now on the 5th). I've done one with turbo yeast, 2 with champagne yeast, one with young's wine yeast and the latest is using cider yeast.

All have worked fine EXCEPT the turbo yeast. Avoid that with all your might. It's rancid!!

Just clearing my first attempt at turbo cider i used 4ltr cheap apple juice 500 g sugar half cup of strong tea 1 teaspoon tomato paste and champagne yeast starting sg=1.080 final sg = 0.988 13.3 % it was very dry so stabalised and sweetened with youngs wine sweetener, because i have used stabiliser will this brew still carbonate with sugar when its time to bottle
cheers

fill 5 litre mineral water container to shoulder

No Jim this is not the way to do it.................. you should be doing 25 litre batches  As someone once said with turbo think big. :D

I have stocked up with 50 litres of juice for a couple of batches, use the yeast from the first batch .

just got first TC on the go thanks to 8 ltr for £5 from Asda. Have to say it is a bit of a slow starter but I guess that is because it is all room temp where as wine I have used warm water to disolve the sugar? Been on 4 hrs and not looking active

phew it has a really good head on it now but not bubbling as much as wow only about every 10 seconds but that could be something to do with my hole drilling skills in the PET lid

OH has just had a fit that I will be leaving it to its own devices for a few days - expects to come back to find it all over the kitchen floor  that will not be the case.

i no this might be stupid but by strong black tea do u mean normal tea bags????

also is it essential to add pectelose to tc or is that only if ur adding other stuff???

sorry i am a bit of a noob on this sort of thing

I thought I was being careful as weather is a bit warmer and only filled to 3 1/2 litre in 5 litre FV left it to its own devices while I went out for a days meetings and blooming thing went mad and still escaped out of the air lock! Good job it was also on a tray
