just cracked open my first bottle of turbo cider. it tastes amazing, like a nice scrumpy with a slight fiz! wont be buying cider any more!! anyway for those who are interested this is what i did. its very simalar to alot of others on here.

fill 5 litre mineral water container to shoulder with lidl vita fit apple juice and a cup of strong tea. add one sachet of cider yeast. screw on lid with airlock, leave in kitchen for 10days (after 2 days, top up with more juice) bottle with 1/2 teaspoon suger, leave in kitchen for 5 days, chill then drink!!
 
I didnt use the 'cup of black tea'. is this why it tastes like weak apple-sourz? Makes my tounge go funny, like when you lick a rusty spoon................ which im sure everyone does :whistle:
 
I have 27 litres of it in the garage, been in there for about 2 months now, already racked into the secondary after 2 weeks and its sitting there now :) Still giving off the odd bubble every now and again. Cant wait to put it in the Keg in summer. :)

not sure, just picked that up from reading on hear, will try some without and see what difference is. was worried to begin with as it made it really dark, but after a while it was very clear and light. i just put another 3 batches of 5litres on, one with 2 bottles of alcoholic ginger beer added, see what happens!!

Yeah theres not much in it Fork and Spoon wise..............

I always Fork then Spoon afterwards :eek:

cool, will try it next time, do you prefer teaspoons or tablespoons?

jimbob170 Im more a teaspoon man although i do enjoy a good tablespoon once in a while...... I stay well clear of dessert spoons!
 
I'm thinking of brewing up a batch but instead of black tea using lapsang souchong (smoked black tea). Maybe I could even add it after primary fermentation which is ocming up soon for my current 5l of cider.

Also what makes this cider turbo? Is there a special kind of yeast? I have seen some packages on homebrew sites with slogans such as "10 bottles in 10 days just add water!" Can anyone explain this?

Also maybe you could add some honey to sweeten it up?

Try whatever you want to sweeten it up with, but always work out the sugar content of what you are using so you don't end up with bottle bombs.

Thats the great thing about brewing recipes or even ones for food. They are what they are, just recipes. They are there to be exploited and altered to suit you own personal taste.

With a basic brew like Turbo Cider, there must be hundreds of different varieties you could make, never mind the different degrees of a.b.v. and colours.

My first attempt at Turbo Cider was a total disaster and I haven't made any since. The more I read about the great results brewers have had with it, the more I think I should be stocking up with apple juice.

Will you blend them/juice them or just drop them in?
 
Have blended them in a magimix and added them to the apple juice with yeast and jar of cheapo honey.
It is going good at the mo :pray:

Did you add any pectolase? You may end up with some cloudy cider if you don't add any.

I normally just crush the blueberrys with a potato masher, makes a really lovely cider.

Looks like cloudy cider will be the call of the day :drink:
