hi, new to forum. im gary from Belfast, ive been brewing extract for a while and am about to set up a keg system in my garage. also have two Cornelius kegs to run on a two out system, but have sourcd a keg from local brewery to have a go in the meantime. was wondering if there is a thread about first time keg system probs or any advice? thanks in advance

Hi Gary, I'm also from Belfast and have a keg system but it's pretty new to me having only kegged a few beers.

What exactly is your question on kegging? What sort of keg do you have etc?

There's a few forum members from NI so your in good company.

hi mark, didn't have any specific questions as kegging is brand new to me. just lookin to avoid any obvious pitfalls. im hopefully gonna try a keg from hilden brewery "Belfast blonde" . still waitin on homebrew ingredients arriving for the two Cornelius kegs

Do you know what sort of keg it is? A lot of breweries use kegs which are filled under pressure with carbonated beer. If it's a plastic eKeg, you can naturally carb these and then serve under pressure. They will have different fittings than your cornies though, so you'll need to get the correct coupler

For your corny kegs, lube all the o-rings with keg lube before filling with beer. This prevents leaks/flat beer. K-Y Jelly works well and it's usually easier to get. It's a good idea to take them apart and clean/sterilise between every brew. If you haven't already, take them apart and reassemble dry to get familiar with their anatomy. They're pretty simple. Get familiar with the gas in and liquid out posts. Labelling them is a good idea. They look similar, but are very different. Nothing worse than forcing a disconnect on the wrong post then getting it jammed!

not sure what type keg yeast, but have couple of couplers think they s type, also ordered corny connects. think its a steel keg, was gonna ask are these already carbed, cheers. McMullan hadn't thought of lubing rings for good seal , good stuff

If you don't want to use KY jelly, Arco in Mallusk sell Buffalo food safe aerosol lubricant, about 4 quid I think.

hi, just got a new re, but gas out connection wont budge and I want to connect my quick connect, is there an adaptor I can buy? pic attached cheers
