I've just purchased a 15L stock pot to do 1-3 gallon experimental/flavoured/high gravity batches in and I'm wondering how to modify it. Would I be able to put one of these tank connectors (http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/420230) on it with a lever tap for an electric hob? or would that melt the rubber washer when I got it on the boil?

I currently BIAB and wonder if I would be able to use my bag in the stock pot to mash in or would I risk melting it on the bottom of the pot? Any help or ideas gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

that will be fine , the rubber goes on the inside if your worried about it and as long as your grain bag doesn't sit on the bottom and also you watch where the excess is ( use a few washing pegs ) all should be fine .

I'd swap out the rubber seal for a PTFE one if you get the chance, they're about 10p at a local plumbers merchants. I'm very suspicious of those rubber ones after I put one on my conical conversion, on removing it it had stained the HDPE yellow...if it does that at room temp and dry what'll it leach in boiling liquids

Thanks for the help guys.

I've now drilled the pot and put the tank connector on and tap but there seems to be a small leak coming from the thread in front of the outside nut, i've even double washered it on the outside and still there's a slow drip, could the problem be the curve of the pot being too tight? and how would I solve this?

If your going to double washer it put the two washers on the inside as that will help with the curve of the pot. You don't really need one on the outside but best to use a fiber one so it doesn't scratch the pot.
