Well, after several weeks in storage, I opened one of my coopers lagers... And I was quite surprised how nice it was, only been about 2 weeks secondary ferment and 2 hrs in the fridge! But quite pleased with the result, not being a great lager drinker, it doesn't taste any worse than some of the pub ones I've had, kinda reminds me of a San Miguel etc, so not that dissapointed.

Very clear as well, only dissapointing thing was their was virtually no head, it was quite bubbly but no head to speak of.

Will it get better with age? Can I expect the head to mature with the brew? - I could to be honest drink it as is, it's just for aesthetics really. Would certainly do it again after the Wherry comes out the brew tub and I've done the cerveza...

what glass did you use? use a fosters or a carling glass with the laser/widget thing at the bottom and that will help keep the head, also more time will help, my coopers european was excellent after 6 months

I used a beer glass I suspect, it's very new I know and used what came with the coopers kit, I.e the carbon drops.

The laser/widget thing sounds interesting, are they readily available? I'm quite liking this lol might have to buy another bucket!

Edit: just did some goggling as my daughter says, and learnt about widget glasses, now that's clever, apart from liberating a few from my local lol can they be purchased?

Yes they can be purchased, bought a new style carling one from morrisons last week for £2. Most places sell them now.
I use them for bitter too as they help retain the head..

Morrison's? YES think I saw them on display as well, the Mrs works their so u can use the discount card as well.... Back soo. Lol cheers for the help...

Edit: ah well , morrys had sold out, but popped into the pub next door and asked the nice landlord about buying a couple, and he gave me two nice new ones... So I popped a couple of quid in the tips box for the staff, what a nice man.... Just waiting for one to chill and try one out....

Ok got the glass, chilled the lager... Wow what a difference but for some reason I can't post a picture of it. But trust me it tastes as good as it looks.... Ps why can't I add a pic!

Just click on the manage attachments box in the quick reply section and upload from computer files.;-)

Hopefully this will have the pic attached... Sadly the head didn't last long cos I drunk it lol
