Good value, no added sugar or anything else to add except for priming bottles. Woodfordes kits are top class if you read the reviews here in the forum. If your talking really strong brewferm abby is a 9 litre kit at around £11, brew a double batch in one fv, they are around 8% abv, but take ages to mature . :cheers:
 
Update


Bottled the lager tonight, got 32 500ml bottles filled.... Stuck them in the cupboard under the stairs. Just a waiting game now, gonna wait 2 weeks and then store them in the shed outside for 4 weeks.

Started another kit straight away, it is a Tom Caxton dark ale. Pitched the yeast at 1046 and added all of the hop enhancer!!
 
i opened one of my coopers largers approx 2 weeks after bottling and there was no carbination is that normal. i added 1 sugar drop as instructed per 500ml pet bottle.
 
2 can kits don't require the addition of a ferment able such as sugar. Just pop the two cans in, add water and yeast, easy! The two can kits also end to be at the premium end of the kit scale.
 
1.013 for a coopers lager?

1.042 to 1.013 isn't right at all IMO and far too early to be bottling. Should have went down to around 1.006/1.008.

People giving advice here tend to get their own ale final gravity figures stuck in their head and base their recommendations on that. Ales finish MUCH higher than lagers and the like due to having a higher level of unfermentables. 1.013 doesn't mean that fermentation is finished, it depends on what you are brewing.

Lagers should always be under 1.010 (at the very most).

Na it's nothing major to worry about. If it has stalled, or isn't finished, then you may have overprimed your bottles. How much sugar did you add to each pint? All this will lead to is a bit of a more fizzy lager than what you were after, depending on the ingredients etc you may end up with more head than lager when you pour, but all manageable :)

No i think he means his beer is flat... no carbonation.

Ahh yes lol, oopsie :D

Was it stored at room temp for 2 weeks? I'm wondering if perhaps the yeast had died off given the high FG and lack of carbonation. Fingers crossed it's just an oversight with temp or something.
 
I prime 500ml bottles with 1 teaspoon of sugar for lager, and 1/2 teaspoon for ale and stout. I would always have at least a few plastic pet bottles along with glass bottles for each brew. The plastic bottles are handy, to feel if they firm up in the warm cupboard, then you know the carbonation is taking place. If they stay soft when squeezed, then theres a problem. What type bottles are you using mate ?
 
yes i used the plastic pet bottles and none of them are firm... i used the coopers sugar drops 1 per bottle as directed in instructions... they spent 2 weeks under the stairs after bottling now in the shed. i just bottled my 2nd batch into glass bottles exactly the same way with one coopers drop in each bottle. can i re prime??

im just wondering if it was to cold under your stairs ...
get a temperature reading and post it on here ...
if it was to cold mabe all you need to do ...
is bring it back in to a warm temperature for 2 weeks ...
then if im right the bottles will ferm up as carbonation takes place ....

just give it a few days...
then test the bottles to see if there getting fermer...

and if all is well leave it there for 2 weeks ...

sorry to hijack BB's thread but I'm about to embark on my first brew day this week, also with a Coppers aussie Lager kit. Could I buy another can and just use that instead of the Coopers brew enhancer? What would be the effect on the final lager? Thanks.

IMO it would all be for the better. More flavour, more hops and more body. Go for it :)
