Thought I'd share that I have started my first ever beer! I've done wine and turbo cider type stuff before, but went out and bought a 5 gallon fermenter with a kit during the week.

Using Geordie Mild kit. OG 1038, now sat in the airing cupboard, waiting for the magic to start.

Hey Steve
Great feeling isn't it! Hope it all goes really well for you and you end up with a fantastic beer that's all your own work!

Well done!

It's a great feeling doing it yourself, the hardest part is the wait for it to be ready, my plan is one a week for the first few to keep my mind off trying it too early, lol

Good man - best wishes for your future brewing 'career'.

I started with kits around 30 years ago. I did a Geordie a few months ago 'for old times sake' - it was excellent.

Well it's been bubbling away quite merrily all week.

Not checked SG yet, mainly as I keep forgettting to get a turkey baster thingy everytime I pass asda! :nono:

Should have better memory and more time tomorrow afternoon. Good news is I have enough bottles now, they just need washing and sterilising over the weekend. Oh! will need to get some more sugar as well to prime the bottles!

I've just started brewing and started with the kits, i have nearly gone through my first batch of ale (i gave alot away for people to try) and am now drinking my Coopers Brewmaster stout, and both have been very successful, and taste just as good as what i 'used to' buy from the shops.
John Bull I.P.A ready to bottle tomorrow, and will definatley have another brew going on saturday. I will never go back to buying beer again, besides hobgoblin as i love it, also innis & gunn :thumb:

Just checked SG now down at 1006!

Not bad for 5 days brewing, moved from airing cupboard to kitchen.

Dropped in a packet of beer finings says to leave it for a couple of days, gives me time to wash and sterilise the bottles before primimg and bottling.

:) :) :)

Finally got round to bottling this brew up on Wednesday night!

Now sat with 11 two litre and 1 one litre bottles sat on the kitchen side, will be moving them to the garage over the weekend.

Tastes ok... there may have been about 3 pints left from bottling which got tasted!

Looking forward to trying the final product!

Now roll on pay day to start another one!

I would give them at least a week in a warm spot before moving them.
