It won't taste too brilliant after just 8 days, but I suspect you will be amazed by the transformation after it has finished fermenting and then conditioned for a few weeks. Northern Ireland by the way - pint in one hand, umbrella over the bbq with the other!
 
Thought you were going to say Aus mate!! The little booklet kit came says fermentation complete in around 15 days but due to timings I might just leave it in there for 2 weeks from now, dry hop for 3 days, then bottle and let condition. That a good plan? Or too long in the FV?
 
The instructions that come with kits are renowned for being out with their timings. If you go with 2 + 2 + 2 (two weeks fv, two weeks conditioning in bottle/keg at same temp you fermented at, two weeks in the cool (10 - 12°c)) you won't go far wrong. Make sure you've had the same hydrometer reading a couple of days running before you are tempted to bottle or keg it.
