Eight days after pitching my yeast I still have airlock activity, today's hydrometer reading is 1018 and the beer is much clearer. I'm hoping it wont need too long to condition (Would ideally like it to be ready for Christmas).

Starting at 1048 and today at 1018 means I have a 4% beer right now? From the packaging it says it should be a 5.5% beer so does that mean I should be looking for a final hydrometer reading of 1005 ?

Tastes amazing :drink:

Correct :thumb: I found that most kits can be a little generous with the starting gravity - did the kit say what to expect as the FG? Depending on what yeast etc has been used it may come down as low as 1006 or so or may stay around 1012 - some people (including myself in my kit days) add a few hundred grams of sugar or spraymalt to up the starting gravity :D
