Thats 6 days since I started my first homebrew, the Cooper lager. Its coming along nicely. The Original Gravity was 1038, its now sitting at 1011 and it tastes , well like flat lager but I love it. Cant wait till I get to bottle it, hopefully this week end.

Patience will need to be your best friend :thumb:

Of course you have to check on progress though ;)

Yup, time is your, and your beer's, friend!

If you have to bottle on the weekend, go for Sunday. Give it that extra day. :thumb:

Oh and congratulations! You see that slope in front of you? Mighty slippy so it is!

Might wait till monday morning, but it'll be hard. I just wanna drink it now :wha:

Next Thursday would be ideal but as Calum says(in different words), Sunday at the earliest

I thought leaving it too long on its first fermentation can be dangerous. If I leave it till next week before bottling, can I put the bottles in the garage or will I still have to leave them at room temp for a week first.

The only problem is that Im back at work next week so bottling during the week would be a hassle as Im night shift and do 12 hour shifts on wed and thursday night.

2 weeks in the warm is good for carbonation and then somewhere cooler to condition

There are mixed opinions as to leaving it on the yeast of transfer to a second fv after a week.

Just bottle whenever you can Sunday -Thursday.

You will still need to leave the bottles in the warm for 2weeks before moving to somewhere cooler. :thumb:

This is murder, but you have all been here :D wanting to drink it right away

I would say time is your enemy but beers friend

I've always said Googles your best friend :thumb: The amount of things I've been able to do because of Google.

I personally go with 10 days primary then 10 days secondary. If not doing the secondary stage I would give it at least 14 days in the primary before bottling.

This alone will shorten the conditioning time as the yeast working in bulk will do a better job than them being split up into individual bottles.

After that it's 2 weeks at room temp (20 degrees) and then at the very least a month in the cool (I'd recommend 3 but that's not going to happen with your first brew). After that pop them in the fridge and get drinking :D

I', going to bottle my lager tomorrow  but I did bottle a few tonight  . The thing is when I put the coopers carbonation drops in, nothing is happening. Should it start to do anything noticeable right away. Still tastes not to bad, a tad flat but hey :drink:

No, you won't notice anything happen straight away. I would bottle all in one go in the future. You have the fv open less therefore reduce the risk of infection :thumb:

Well thats it all bottled nicely  Got myself 42 500ml bottle of my first homebrew. Looking forward to a bit of :drink: :drink: :drink:

Well like I said, i bottles some bottles last saturday and the rest on the sunday. Its been sitting in my spare room carbonising nicely. I keep looking to see if its ok, but one bottle kept shouting at me. All week it was saying "take me, im yours". So today I took her, put her in the freezer for 30 minutes and drank her (well me and my son). She was beautiful. Even my son was impressed which is a hard thing to do.

I got him to video my opening my first bottle. So sad I know, but worth it.

Cant wait now to drink the rest. I'll leave it for a few weeks as Ill only have sundays of in the next 3 weeks.

When one of my mates heard I was doing the homebrew, he suggested we take it camping with up, but another said no, its better to buy the booze for camping as keeping my PET bottles might be a problem. I let him taste one on Friday night even tho its not ready. Now he's talking about us all chipping in for a KingKeg lol. I think he thought it would taste like p*ss water.

Yeah I've shocked a few, god even I was shocked how good the kits now are!

PET bottles for camping should be fine, just like any bottle of pop really. At least there's no chance of them smashing.
