Hi all,
I finally got round to putting my St. Peter's IPA on & then bottled with 1/2 tsp of sugar.
I was worried I wouldn't get any carbonation as my fiery ginger beer & strawberry ribeena cider both refused to fiz, prob down to our cold house.
So this time, I've put them in a water bath with fish tank heater. They've been in 3 days, is that enough?
Next question..... do you think that the ginger & strawberry will carbonate now after 2 months if I bung em in?

I would leave them in there for a week if possible mate, i always give my brews at least a week before moving somewhere cooler

should be fine if the bottles are dark then hold up to light and you should see a dusting of yeast at the bottom.I just sick up on top of a cupboard for two weeks and they turn out fine :thumb:

its easyer then a bath a tank heat and run the risk of over doing it most houses are around 20 so i find up on top of the kitchen cupboards is ideal

 You should come to mine some time........ bring a coat!
Well........... Disaster! I went out to the shed last night & the bath they were in was stone cold. The heater had cracked & gone phut. So I had to put them in a box & bring them in near to a night storage heater.

I'd be wary of getting them too warm by a storage heater. What temp are they at there?

3 days and if everything is going well, you will get a little fizz as you pour, but the beer will be mostly flat.

1 week and you might get a head on the glass if you pour it roughly.

2 weeks and it will get to acceptable fizz.

3 weeks it should be finished carb'ing and placed in the fridge for up to a week.

As I am impatient, what I do is....

1 week in bottles, 1 goes into the fridge Friday morning for the traditional Friday home from work brew taste. Note, only 1 bottle as out of the 7 brew I have done, one 1 was properly drinkable at 1 week in bottles and that was a Red Ale based on Coopers draft and had no sugar added, just more malts. If at this point it's carbed okay and drinkable, it goes into drinking rotation. If not...

2 week in bottles another 1 goes into the fridge Friday morning for tasting Friday evening. If it's nice a further 4 go in the Fridge for the weekend drinking. If it's still too young or under carbed, I wait for another week.

If after 3 weeks in the bottle it still tastes rough, then I'll start trying to drink it anyway, usually I have 2 or 3 brews in bottles so I mix and match around them, drinking the ones I don't like on occasion to try and use them up. Or I give a few bottles to family and friends.
