Hi all, I've been lurking for a bit, but this is my first post. Im going to be doing my first all grain brew on Sunday, its a London Bitter mash kit from Brupaks, just need to modify my Lidl boiler before I start.

If there anything I should be aware of, or any tips that would help make the day run smoothly. I can't wait to start, have had all of the equipment for about two weeks now, have been waiting to finish my exams before I start.

Make yourself an idiot sheet so you dont miss anything out

and enjoy the day :thumb: it'll all make sense to you as you go along ;)

Good luck mate - just take it easy and enjoy your day. I have 5 tips:

1. Read the excellent guide by brewstew in the "How to" section. It really is helpful
2. Make yourself a crib sheet with all the key measurements on it to refer back to
3. Don't turn on the boiler without anything in it. Boilers don't like it.
4. Make sure you're on top of sanitization. Last thing you want is to spend a whole day brewing only for it to be ruined by airborne nasties
5. Enjoy it!

Definately create yourself a crib sheet with ALL the instructions you need, along with all the amounts etc, and space to add any measurements you need to take along the way.

I do that for my Ag brews and it is invaluable.

The basic errors are:-
Not closing taps before filling Tuns, Boilers, HLTs etc.
Forgetting to fit Hop and Grain filters.
Forgetting to add Irish Moss/Protofloc.
Forgetting to take OG.

Hope you have a good Brewday. :thumb:

All above are from bitter experience.

Cheers for all the advice and tips. I can't wait to begin. I'll let you all know how it goes.
