Hi, i did my first AG brew yesterday and all went really well, better than expected and i hit no problems. My SG was at 1056 instead of the 1051 i was hoping to hit but thats not too bad. I dont have a cooler so when i had boiled the wort i sat it in a bath of cold water for a few hours and once the temp was at 24 i pitched the yeast. I mixed it for a few minutes first to airate the wort then stirred once the yeast was in. I quickly had a peek today but it looked as though the yeast had just floated to the top.....am i worrying for nothing or have i made a massive mistake????? :wha:

Was the yeast dried coz some times it takes a few hours or days to get going. Maintain 18-24 deg c if nothing happens in a few days you might need to re pitch another yeast. When you finished boiling hops etc always a good idea to let the wort run in to the fv from a bit of a height then it gets areated without the stirring. You must sterilise everything post boil too that you dip in your beer :D

Yes it was dried yeast, i did initially drop the wort in from a height after the boil. So hopefully its just the yeast taking its time...
