only a month late thanks to flu at christmas break and work being mad, my brewery is finished (for now) and ready for its first go on saturday.
here is my story...
hopefully you can see these pics..
i started off with a good old jam pot on the bbq ( notice the expensive theodolite holding up my much more important beer!) it was dangerous, slow and rubbish.
then i decided to go all out. firstly with some shiny pots, following vossy's excellent how to, and a decent gas burner. (i told myself that would do, no more stuff!)
then after nearly burning myself and knocking over my pots i decided to build a stand....
the cage for the burner slides between the hlt and copper, hopefully i can get away with only one burner,it worked well on my test runs (boiled 40l from 10C in 45 mins).the pots are seated within the slotted angle so they cant move, and i might bolt it to the floor for super saftey.
i was lucky and managed to aquire the unistrut for free off a building site where it was going to be skipped. bonus :P so i then justified building a better chiller, a tandem coil imersion
single in and out, but splits and runs through 10mm micro in tandem coils. the idea was to double surface area (not sure about the maths there, but for extra geeky points i worked out the diameter needed to split the area of the pot in 2 and coiled the chiller to that measurement (diameter=0.707 diameter of kettle). it seems quite effective on tests, but well see for sure this weekend.
first brew oatmeal stout
oh and huge thanks to everyone who has posted their builds on here and vossys how to for the pots, you have all helped inspire me and help me source the parts.cheers guys.
ill update this after brewday on how it went.
