filling a cornie

how full should i fill my new cornies do i go right to the top or leave a gap , i hav'nt got any fittings yet but my stout is ready so i need to batch it with sugar for the time being, atb wayne
 
I usually go about an inch from the top. You wanna be able to get the lid on without dunking it really!
 
I always fill to just below the gas tube. It prevents any beer going back up the co2 line (not that it should but if I do make a silly mistake I'm covered) :thumb:
