I'm fairly new to brewing, I've done couple of brews and fancy trying something 'posh' for Christmas. I've got some woodfordes nog and have read some feeds about adding figs/dates to the FV, in order to 'Christmassy it up'. I think I need to boil them initially before adding them to the wort, however how much figs/ dates should I add? Will 1 fig be enough or should I add 10 kilos? Any help you experts could give me would be really appreciated!

Noticed you asked this question last night, I take it no one answered. Must admit I've not heard of figs or dates being used in beer before, more cinnamon and other spices. If no one comes up with an answer it might be worth asking a more general question on Christmas beers.
