hello

i added the yeast to a brew on saturday pm and a nice head formed - but has now subsided to a thin one (its wed am). Is this normal or might it be stuck. Its in a garage where the temp is 20c in the day, but must be dropping quite a bit a night

I thought it would take 7-10 days for the fermentation to complete.

cheers

Could be fine, some yeasts will do most of the work very quickly, I would still leave 10 days for the yeasties to clear up after themselves.

If you want to check it's not stuck, take a hydrometer reading and see how its doing, follow that with another tomorrow and you'll know.

what was the yeast and what was the brew?

Chances are that it has finished, but as hawk says above, take some gravity readings for the next couple of days! Good luck

Hmmm .. that does seem high .. I'd be looking for somewhere around 1012 absolute top. Do you have a hydrometer?

The head is now all gone and its at 1012, guess its done

if i leave it for a few days to settle does the lid need to be on tight?

cheers
