Favourite Food

Been getting into a very in depth discussion with my mate about favourite "style" of food. Think I've got the main groups relative to the UK so mark your favourite and say why or why not others!

I've gone French as for me it's simply another level of deliciousness.

I have to admit that I love French influenced food. If you want to match food to wine then this must be the best (although I think Italian and Spanish food is close behind).

English for me along with good english ales : Do enjoy a good chinese as well

I find this response very difficult. I had by far the best Indian meal I've ever had in Nairobi - a place called Hahn's (or similar), and by far the best Thai green curry in Afghanistan!!!! French food can be fantastic if it's been cooked by a good chef, much like truely fantastic, traditional (not fish n chips, ffs) English fayre - think of all that game and rich sauce. I must say, I couldn't just choose one, as it depends on one's taste at any given time. In general I think I'd choose English (or British if that was a choice), as there is soo much overlooked. :

Easier for me to say what I dont like as I really enjoy pretty much all types of food......
But stuff I dont like ... TAPAS :sick: :sick: :sick: :sick: :sick:

for a one off meal I like the others, but day to day stodge, stews and pies and ploughmans not to mention sandwiches, roasts, bangers and mash, toad in the hole, and fish and chips are a winner for me

as much as I like mexican, indian and british food, it's got to be Italian for me - can't get enough pizza, lasagne and spag bol!

I agree with you to an extent Prolix but I used to live in France and so I'm thinking about day to day food as well as restaurant stuff. I've also eaten frogs legs on a number of occasions falafael and they're pretty tasty if a tad pointless. What's wrong with Tapas Damfoose?

I call shenanigans. Pizzas were being made in Italy before America had been discovered (probably), and just because Lasagna appears in the first known English cookbook doesn't mean it originated there

I like allsorts but am probably a rosbif at heart. Couldn't live without curry though.

We don't have a favourite region for food, we very much eat with the seasons, e.g. in the colder months we would be equally happy with something hearty like Lancashire Hot Pot, Beef Bourguignon or a slow cooked Indian Lamb dish. During the summer lighter dishes and BBQ's, lots of grilled fish mostly which usually means mediterranean recipes.

Also love a Friday night Curry or Chinese - also happy with a Pizza

Come on Wez, what dish would you never be prepared to give up no matter what? I made a list of 10 and 7 were of French origin which pretty much made my mind up.

I had a Capitalist pizza for dinner tonight with a couple of bottles of William Bros Grozet which was delicious.
