False bottom on mash tun

Will this work?

I have a 100L stainless steel tank, it has a very slight conical on the bottom. I used it previously as a fermenter, but decided to see if it will work as a mash tun. It
Has a centre hole in the base with a 1” ball valve with a reducer on to 1/2” hose tail, and a sample tap on the side.

previously I have used a copper manifold on my mash tuns, I’ve never used a false bottom, from a previous project I have a small false bottom that never got used, this is much narrower than the diameter of the vessel, however due to the slight slope on the bottom it fits in place.
My question is if I use it like this will it likely move and the ball valve get blocked? If I use it like I think I can it would have no dead space

That’s cool, although why do you need to use the marbles if you have a grain bag? I’m probably missing something!

Creates a open space or dead space for the wort to drain into over the whole bottom of the tun. I recirculate so wanted free drainage from the bottom of the bag. I haven't done any tests with or without beads but intuitively I think they would help even drainage through the grain bed.

You could try magnets to hold the false bottom in place.

If you wanted dead space you could put some stainless bolts through the false bottom to act as legs.

Is there a benefit to having dead space? The false bottom sits directly over the hole in the base, the diameter of the false bottom is about 30cm and the mash tun is 50cm, with it been slightly conical it creates a seal, if I put it on bolts it will allow the grain to get under it. Don’t have marbles but do have baking beads if I needed something underneath although these would get inside the 1” outlet.

if I just sat the false bottom on the base on top of the outlet, is it likely to move allowing all the grain to get through it?
