hi

just want some thoughts about extract brewing compared to kits? is there much difference in the finished products, is it worth the layout of cash. i know all grain is the way to go but short of room or else i would have jumped in by now.
and the best place to get extract kits ???

cheers steve

i know many people use the brewuk site. the exmoor gold and way to amarillo extract packs get good reviews. All you'll need is a pan that can boil usually around 6L i think (I have a 15L pan).

I was just contemplating whether to go extract or miniBIAB. i'm guna go for the BIAB. It works out cheaper. Buy a few bags of grain, some hops. recon I can get an 9L batch for around £10

hi, a big yes from me , extract give you more choice and as long as you have a big pot it is easy to do. You could buy the kits http://www.thehomebrewcompany.co.uk/ext ... c-164.html or just get the ingredients your self such as 3kg of dried malt extract for £14 http://www.thehomebrewcompany.co.uk/spr ... p-183.html and some hops £3.50 for 100g and get some yeast (usually much better than the yeast with kits = better beer) And you can also use specialty grain to give your brew some extra flavours or colour . If i was to give AG a 10 and good kits a 5 then extract is say a 7 or 8 score . Remember temp control is 1 of the most important things to get good beer whatever the method. :D

i would also agree.

I made my first extract brew at the weekend, the brewuk way to amarillo, and although initially daunting, i really enjoyed the whole process.

i have an 8 litre pot which was used for a 6 litre boil, i have since ordered a 15 litre one as i had a boilover when i added my second lot of malt extract.

go for it, you won't look back!!
