Hello, just trying to get some opinion here. Does it harm if I leave my beer fermenting on the primary for an extra week? I brewed a red ale last Sunday and it will reach its final gravity probably by end of this week. Unfortunately, I cannot bottle until the following weekend. Do you think leaving the yeast in contact with the beer for that period will produce any off flavours? (Note. I don't have a conical fermenter). Thanks in advance.

It'll do it good, you need at least a couple of days after you hit FG to allow the yeast to clean up a number of unwanted flavours in your beer. The advice most often given is to ferment for 2 weeks minimum, you'll be fine for a month without any concerns and plenty of people have gone waaaaaay longer than that without any negative results.

It'll be fine. I went off on holiday for a month with an imperial stout in the FV and it was fine when I came back. As long as the FV is well sealed it'll give the yeast time to clear up after itself and your beer may well be better for it.

Yep, all good. Longest I've had one sit is 5 weeks (I get lazy when it comes to bottling!). No problems and it's crystal clear in the bottles with almost no sediment.
