One of the worst things about over priming or bottling early is that the excessive CO2 that builds up forms carbonic acid, which has a very nasty taste and is difficult to remove.
In the past I have wasted a lot of time trying to save a couple of brews and it would have been better, with hindsight, not to have bothered. So + 1 for chucking and starting again.
