Margaret Thatcher has just had a minor operation its been announced

It is noted she had a miner operation in the Eighties...... :D

just waiting for the beeatch to die so i can fullfill me promise to me old man and dance on her grave :thumb:

As a little balance in the anti Thatcher world, I was one of the folk who did pretty well out of The Lady.

Fully funded degree in Engineering, plus a grant top up as I'd paid taxes for a few years before going to uni.

Landed a job in an enterprise zone funded by money she had 'persuaded' Europe to hand over and never looked back.

Don't just blame Thatcher for the miner's strike, Scargill had a heck of a lot to do with it as well, in many ways The Iron Lady was the more honest of the two of them.

Like or loath her she didn't let anyone dictate what we did and she didn't let Europe/ Germany piss us about.

Happy Christmas all.

Brewing :- nowt
Planning :- Woodefords Sundew
Conditioning :- Wilko Sweet newkie brown
Drinking :- Wherry, nelsons revenge, fiery ginger beer.

Love her or hate her you have to agree that when she set her mind to something she stuck to it. Got to admire that in a politician, a lot could learn from her today.

Politics aside, I hope she has a speedy recovery.

So I can continue to hate her

thatcher, the last prime minister with a set of balls

any things better than the others that followed her as pm

There is a discussion about The Lady on another forum I use (motorbikes), as with this it is very polarised, however the challenge has been made to name a better PM in the last 100 years, excluding the two obvious choices of Churchill and Atlee. So far, no takers :)

The Lady at least had the deccency to tell us when she was going to shaft us, then get on with it, no fuss, no compassion, just pure leadership :)

As I said on another forum -

We emerged from WWII effectively broke but leading in the fields of marine, aerospace, radar, sonar, computing, rail, automotive and leading so strongly that only the USA could even begin to match us.

Fast forward 60 years and absolutely all of it has been squandered. This is only explicable by gratuitous failures of leadership by each consecutive government, Labour and Tory.

So the really baffling thing is why people continue to vote for the same political entities that have ground us into dust. I guess we get the government we deserve.

All she did was crush the unions before they destroyed the country.

Since then labour (actually Phony Blair) did it on their own without the Unions
