I am looking to start brewing in my flat. I am trying to work out what would be the most sensible kit to use, bearing in mind space and the cheaper the better on the budget side!
I'm also thinking about the chance of blowover etc (and not wanting to get that into the carpet) and just practicalities. I've found a few posts etc and had a read around about it but looking for any additional thoughts/experiences?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum Jaz.

There are hundreds of different kits out there but a good starter is the Coopers range. For around thirteen quid you can produce a very acceptable drink, which for a new brewer is really easy to make.

As far as kit goes, you only need the basics to start with.

Five gallon fermenting vessel with lid
2 - 3 metres of plastic tubing for syphoning.
Long handled plastic spoon
Hydrometer and thermometer
Sterilizing tablets (supermarket ones for less than a quid).
PET bottles or whatever you can get for free.

Come back to us on what you would like to brew and I am sure we can help you further.

Cheers Neil
