Engraving Stainless Steel

im thinking of using my dremel to engrave volume markers on the inside of my boiler

and also the brewery logo and name on the outside for that personalised touch (and to make it identifiable if some git breaks into my garage)

would this affect the longevity of the steel?

it is a nordic optical pot. are you saying "not" as in, it's "not" a problem if its an NO pot? or if it's an NO pot, then no, it's not ok to engrave?

Hey Brew. I'm going to put a marked strip of stainless steel , bent over at the top to retain it on the rim, into the boiler. It doesn't have to go right to the bottom just to within the range you work.

Ahh a joke wasted, i was having a pop at the quality of the NO pots, mine showed signs of rust after one use. Keep it dry when not in use and you'll be grand

If the pots are that poor quality that they are showing signs of rust then engraving will almost certainly make things worse.
You could engrave the outside and then get the outside chrome plated. That would be V shiny. :lol:

until it gets nicked and they use alcohol or something to wipe off the marker pen :lol:
