Element problem

The element on my HTL when last week so I bought a Tescos value kettle, took out the element , fitted it but when I turn it on nothing. Any ideas, it all look very basic to me.

Have you connected the 2 wires back together that would of gone to the switch?

no, wondered about that [wifes idea]. do you need to take out the switch and connect the 2 together

The 2 wires go to the switch, you have to loop the connection to make the circuit !
