Electric or Gas?

Are there any advantages of gas over electric or electric over gas?

It seems alot of people are useing gas in preference to electric.

I have been offered a 40ltr blue barrel free of charge but will obviousely only be able to use it with electric.
My thoughts were if gas was better i would use this barrel as my mashtun and insulate it with a camping mat.

i have at the moment an electric boiler home made with two kettle elements , which i a week or so is going because i have a gas set up which i want to use,

electrics ok if you can use it inside , i have been hoofed out of the kitchen, so its gas and outside for me
