I was surprised to read BEV tyres wear down around 30% less quickly than regular tyres but when you read the full article you see why.
Also, if the EV is all wheel drive the wear will be more even front to back. I remember getting new front tyres every 15k-20k or so on most previous FWD cars but it's over 30k when all 4 need to be done at the same time now.

I can't remember how often the rears on the FWD needed changing but my feeling is that overall it's probably averaging out between the two use cases to be similar at least.
 
The unsold inventory of Elon Musk's Tesla is so large, it is now visible from space:

Reports indicate that there are nearly 50,000 Teslas sitting in parking lots across the USA alone — so many, they can be spotted from space.

Using satellite imagery, sources like Sherwood News discovered Tesla’s Texas Gigafactory lots went from partially filled in late 2023 to overflowing by March 2024.

Additional storage locations, including vacant malls and parking lots, are also being filled to capacity.

Tesla reported building 433,371 vehicles in the first quarter of 2024 but only selling 386,810, leaving tens of thousands of excess units.

This surplus reflects a slowing EV market and Tesla’s price cuts failing to entice buyers. Satellite images reveal hundreds of Teslas packed outside places like Chesterfield Mall in St. Louis and former retail spaces like Sears in Moreno Valley, California. While Tesla maintains optimism about reversing this inventory buildup, the growing visibility of its unsold vehicles raises questions about the long-term demand for its once-dominant brand.

Is it possible that people are turning their back on Tesla due to Musks political leanings? It does feel like supporting Trump is pretty negative marketing for Tesla who’s main market has to be left leaning and pro ‘green’ and pro ‘climate awareness’ whereas Trump is pro fossil fuel. Not that Musk would give a s#it, he’s not short of a few dollars.
Fair point but I try to look past the individual and look at the technology, for the record I do not own a Tesla but not for this reason more on grounds of cost.

Widen the point then does that mean we should shun all Chinese products if you do not agree with their politics? Very hard to do and some of the tech coming out from BYD and others is hard to ignore, the blade batteries, game changer in terms of safety and if the 2nd generation ever breaks cover that could be even more impressive.

Watched this BYD Seal Tear Down Video and what struck me was the use of the battery as a structural component, the Seal has no floor!

CATL also now have structural batteries on the market

Tesla has its new 4680 Cells battery as well so while different technology shows they are still in the game, BUT here is the kicker it seems Tesla are now using BYD and CATL batteries in some of their cars!

Kind of makes you think if BYD get their car production up to Tesla standards (some day the Seal already is) then cut out the middleman this could drive EVs down even further and increase safety.

Or maybe it's their owner becoming toxic and putting people off lining his pockets even more.

I see there was a post about 'leaving politics out of this' - it is political choices that will determine whether the uptake in EVs goes up or down. It's political choices that encourage or discourage the roll out of a better network of public chargers. Life is politics, the decisions the politicians you vote for make can affect almost every aspect of your life.

50k in that context doesn't seem like much, although I appreciate Tesla do operate a direct to consumer model where they shouldn't really be producing many more cars than they are selling.
