It's been a very long time since any of the black stuff graced the taps of the Effin Brewery, So I've decided to do a short brew possibly by batch sparging . . . possibly a no sparge . . . not decided yet
I give you Effin Oatmeal Stout
For 45 Litres at 1.046 (75%) and 36IBU (Tinseth)
6500g Pale Malt
1250g Flaked Barley
750g Flaked Oats
600g Roast Barley
and thanks to the excellent service from Paul at Barley Bottom I will be using
100g Bramling Cross (5.8% Alpha) for 90 minutes
And thats it . . traditional stout no flavour / aroma hops although I like to think that the BC will provide a lovely Blackcurrant base tot he beer . . . . and I'm desperately trying to restrain myself from throwing in a handful of Nelson Sauvin at the end of the boil . . . its just not to style.
Yeast will be my old standby of Windsor. . . . It just does the job . . . . although I may see if I can get some SO4 for this one.
