i have a 5 gallon lager kit brewing,

it has been bubbling for 10 days and is still going, the kit instructions say 6-7 days..?

do i have to leave it to complete fermenting,
do i need to leave it any longer to clear up ...b4 bottling...

or is it ready to bottle now..... :wha:

My first lager kit took 16 days so I'd just leave it as james said.
The reason for mine fermenting slowly was due to the cool temperature and I just had to wait for it to finish (even though tthe instructions said 4-7 days). If you can get hold of a hydrometer you will be able to work out if it still has a way to go to reach your target gravity (if you can also get hold of a thermometer you can use it along with a conversion chart to give you a corrected gravity based on the given temp). Not sure of a link for a conversion chart? but I have one in a basic brewing book.

I have just put my edme lager into my cornie,It was in the bucket for 14 days. Its a very nice lager  :thumb:

i will leave her to bubble away then, i call it her as its hard to fathom out.....

it is in a room that is around 12- 15 deg.

:D

Yeah its definately the low temperature thats stringing this bit out for your brew. Mine was much the same and has turned out fine... very tasty too.

my Edme Bitter smells bostin, as i check it(its tasting quite good too) ;) .
Me thinks an edme lager is on the cards, judging by the views around here.

ive bottled it

it looks very thick, not at all like lager,...more like orange juice :?

i suspect it will drop a lot of sediment
i added one and a half tsp of sugar ,per 2 litres, the kit said half a spoon per pint,

on tasting it it tastes very much like leffe...which cant be bad at all, im well pleased so far....

any one else had theirs turn out like this... :?:

its had a few days in the airing cupboard, and it has cleared really well with a few millimetres of sediment....

im wondering if it picked up sediment from the fv as i used the tap on it to bottle... :?
although the sediment on the bottom of the fv looked undisturbed...

You will get some sediment in the bottle, it's just the remaining yeast settling out (as far as my fairly newbie mind tells me!).

Just remember to pour the bottle out in full asap when you open it, or the carbonation will likely drag that sediment back into the liquid. Pour carefully as well, and stop before you tip the dregs into your glass!

My EDME was in the FV for around 14 days,I then transfered to corny, forced carbonated.First pint got rid of what sediment was left, then ever pint has been clear and tastes a little like stella  :thumb:

popped a couple of bottles open this weekend, for reviewing purposes.... ;)
it was quite fizzy,to pour but not too gassy to drink,
a lot of sediment had settled
it has a yeasty/hoppy smell,
tastes very continental, :drunk:
there is a quite pleasant lemon/citrus after taste,

all in all,im pleased with it and a few testers said it was drinkable.
the other 18 litres will be stored in a cool place for a couple of months...

my lad has popped back from uni ,
so we had 2 liters with a curry on sat ,
he loved it and said it tastes like hoegaarden, it does have a fruity taste,
very nice though,

on a side note;
i am storing it in 2l pet bottles, upside down... ;)
i then cracked the lid open [while upsidedown] over the sink which pushes out the sediment that has settled in the cap.....works a treat then pop the bottle in the fridge for an hour, result cold clear lager ...
