Hello all,

My cascade hops are growing really well. So I’m planning a brew.
I’m confident in adding the hops to the boil as they are sanitised.
Last year there were a lot of bugs in my hops and Im worried about dry hopping and causing an infection.
What do others do?

I had thought once dried the bugs would leave, or do the bugs just add to the flavour!?

Cheers Oli

You could always add them at flameout and hop stand for about 20 minutes or so at 70c ish instead of dry hopping.

I would not dry hop with home grown hops as you have said there is a larger chance of infection. I think Benfleets idea of flameout is the best option

I froze mine then dry hopped, drained them then used them to bitter my next brew only problem was determining the IBU's, turned out a bit too bitter.
