Hi there.

I have a couple of brews on, one is a london pride clone and it says after 4 days to add the dry hops. Do i just put them in? or gently stir them, and does it not add to the risk of an infection. cheers . Abi

I was always under the impression that hops weren't a concern, due to their natural antiseptic properties. Just be careful when you open it that you don't drop anything grotty in it!

Put them in a muslin bag or similar and weight it down to sink - I then ran some fishing line from mine to out of the FV to try and keep them suspended out the crud as well. You can then lower in easily and don't have to worry about bits of hops in your beer at kegging / bottling time.

Bag went into pan of boiling water for 10 mins before use and the hops do have natural properties to help them, plus now your fermentation is most of the way done you have an alcohol content as well which helps protect it. :thumb:
