Dry Hopping - recommended hops for kits

Hi chaps

I'm planning my first attempt at dry hopping to a two can kit, this will hopefully be either a Woodfords Wherry or a St Peter's IPA, both of which I have succesfully brewed before.

I was thinking of adding some hops at the secondary fermentation stage simply just to add some additional aroma to the beer, but was looking for some recomendations. Was thinking either Cascade or Goldings hops, anyone have any thoughts?

I certainly recommend dry hopping kits, it adds a lot of fresh flavour you'll be missing otherwise. Which hop to use is largely a matter of taste though. Apart from a few high-alpha low-oil hops, most will be suitable.

The two you've suggested are dramatically different in flavour! Goldings is a classic british hop and it used to dry hop lots of big name beers (Fullers use it for most of theirs IIRC). It's got a smooth flavour from lots of humulene, and relatively little myrcene. Cascade could hardly be more different; it's got an assertive grapefruit flavour from loads of myrcene and little humulene, and it's a flavour associated with modern American beers and those that copy that style (eg Kernel).

I prefer goldings, and if you're used to British beer you probably will too, but if you want something more contemporary, Cascade is a good choice.
