If the OP is interested in reducing his HB consumption there are a few strategies he could employ

- Put the beer in smaller packaging. It's oh so easy to just put the glass under the tap for that last one when packaging in any sort of keg/barrel. So use bottles and smaller ones at that. I have quite a lot of 330ml bottles and often use these to package in.
Similarly use a smaller glass. If your pouring a litre into a a stein your going to drink it. So a 330ml glass to go with the 330ml bottles (I have a couple of these too) can help with that

- Brew session strength beers. It doesnt take long for your body to get 'acclimatised' to 5%-8% beer. So that becomes your normal session strength. Drop the strength to 4% or even lower

- Brew shorter brew lengths and less often. If you havent got the beer sitting their winking at you,, you wont drink it. I'm too tight to go to the shop to buy beer so If I havent got it I dont drink
Also, put the beer somewhere you can't see it. Mine lives in the garage so there isn't really any temptation.

hi thanks for all the quotes and ideas, I used to brew at least 3 - 4 kits every 4 weeks and have gained quite a stock now.

But I think I will take heed of the above quote and just put in smaller bottles, and the longer I leave the beer the better it is going to taste I think.#

would everyone agree with that.

Thanks

Mine lives in the shed, which is a good 40ft away from the kitchen.

I do have my minikeg dispenser sitting in the kitchen, but I've only had one midweek beer from it, and that was after a particularly stressful day at work.

Another strategy that enables you to still enjoy the hobby of brewing but to drink a bit less is to give your beer away. I make regular gifts of bottles to various people.

I do this. "check out how good I am!, yeh that's right, I made this, worship me, bring me praise!"

Yesterday had the annual pilgrimage to Hyde's beer studio Manchester,a 5 hour beer marathon then off to the holy inadequate near stoke for an hour or two before getting home around 9 pm.then had another couple of my own before retiring for the night.how many did I have? Around 11 over the course of the day

I have two glasses of wine a day On Thursday a couple of pints and about 6 Pints on a Friday night down the pub about 3 on Saturday at home and the same again on Sunday so beer wise I drink 12 beers a week

digging peat all day in Ireland brings on a thirst so maybe a few of them guines things, what with the sheep jumping all over the fences, the title feckers
