Hi, I’ve read on this forum that drilling a hole in the side of a fridge is usually okay, but does anyone know if it’s safe to drill through the top?
Thanks

It's not always safe to drill through the side walls, my understanding is that different manufacturers will run the coolant lines in the side walls and some don't, if this is the same for the top I don't know, but I would start by removing the lid and investigate from there.

Just drill through the outer skin then pick through the insulation with something that's good for picking at things to see what's there. If there's pipes you could always change the position or change your mind and fill it back up with silicone.

A white one I recon.

If you have a light in the top, you _should_ be ok to use that as an entry point.
It's what I did the get my ST1000 thermostat and heater power into my fermentation fridge athumb..

I carefully drilled through the lens casing, through the back of the light holder and away to freedom.

Hi Clint, I tried doing similar on my keezer when mounting the drip tray assuming that the insulation would be 20mm thick or more so I used 8mm self tapping screws. Wrong!!!! Hissing of leaking gas, dead keezer.

I'm suggesting drill the depth of the fridge casing only, maybe with a hole cutting bit. Then pick at the insulation to see what's there...there is no "blind" drilling. Even if there was pipes you wouldn't hit them doing this
