I've asked this before and never really got a satisfactory answer. I suspect the answer is really easy but I'm totally over-thinking it and getting confused.

On a single tier system that you see all the time in the US they use pumps to transfer everything. However, my question is this......

How do they drain down the system?

All my pumps have some liquid left in the after a brew. Do they have a master valve at the bottom or do they unhook everything and let gravity do it?

Hello K,

putting a "T" piece with an extra ball valve pointing down just after the pump allows you to drain any liquid from the system.
This "T" piece is between the pump and the ball valve that controls the liquid flow rate.
Hope I am making sense :D
