I have a job interview today at 4:30 and i feel proper edgy!

Basically the IT firm called me, we had a chat on Friday and the job sounds great! good 30 min on the phone talking about me... no problem the odd recruiter calls every now and again so i am fine talking to them.

At the end of this chat i was told that they would like to send me to a second interview... errr second when was the first... oh that was an interview.. great

so today i have a phone interview with the head of technical.

This is the first interview i have had in over 10 years!

I used to enjoy them when I was a consultant.
Haven't done one for a couple of years.

You know within five minutes if it's for you.
Never got on well when interviewed by a woman, they must be able to see through my BS.

I am a consultant but my "client" has needed me for 10 years now, 1 project after another.

I have always enjoyed conducting interviews but I suspect the person sitting opposite me has not.

the very best of luck bud ...

i hope you get it .. :thumb: .
i hate interviews...
59 minets and counting .... .

regards mick... :hat: .

The thing with interviews we seem to overlook is that not all people who do the interviewing do it as their main job and they also find it hard work too.
I have a friend who is in a managerial position within HMRC who has recently done a block of interviews for a large number of positions here in Preston, and when he was asked if he wanted the overtime for the second lot of interviews he turned it down solely on the fact that it was too stressful and nerve racking.

I've had a few interviews over the past 6 months and I really enjoy em. It's like the thrill of the chase mixed in with a game of intellect, with both the interviewer & interviewee trying to get what they want out of the situation without tripping themselves up or falling into the others trap.

Sicko!

Actually not too bad it was more about what I do and know and what I want not an attempt to trip me up from what I said on my CV

Sounded promising but have to wait a couple of days now.

Dont really like interviews myself, had one today however. It was a telephone interview for a Brewery that is about the biggest in the UK, if not the biggest.

Will find out tomorrow if i got a face to face interview :)

I hate them until I get in there and start talking, then it all seems to click. I don't like interviews in summer as I'm usually a sweaty mess by the time I've crammed myself into a suit and made my way into the interview!!

Hope it went well for you.

A good technique to use in an interview in which you have two or more people asking you the questions is simply to use their own names back to them. It really is a simple way to engage the other party!
For example, if Bob asks you a question, you can respond along the lines of "well, as I said to Jim just now....".

Another good one is to try to anticipate common questions and give an answer in three succinct points: this is something that a lot of public speakers will do as a means of reinforcement.
For example: "What can I bring to this role? I'm bringing 10 years of experience, a host of industry qualifications and enthusiasm for the outlined project".

Hope these help and good luck!

bugger

just got the call and I have the final interview on Wed... with a Professional Services Director...

got a weekend to think about it but Brighton here i come for the day!

I hate interviews but hate phone interviews the most, once had to try and do an interview while queuing to get in to a gig. I didn't get the job (I think they could tell I was a little occupied  ). Do wish I had applied for some jobs that I liked the look of rather than be in retail for 12 years
