Going to order from Rob this week and noticed he is out of stock of Crisps Maris Otter. So browsing some of the others made me look at This. It states suitable for ales of all types :hmm: Anyone tried it in English style pale ales/bitters.

Yes I have used the Pale malt several times and it's fine malt. Just wondered about the Dingemans, sounds interesting.

Hi Dennis

Crisp M/O will be back in on Thursday. However, that Dingemans pale is the business, you can tell from the first sniff of the malt it's got a far more bready nature to it that carries on into the finished beer. You pays your money.....

Dennis go for it , i use dingemans and i notice a difference , as Rob says more malty and even the smell is better .
 
Not being a hopaholic, I want my beers to be on the Malty side. I might give this a try on my next order.

Just got a full 25kg of MO so if you use yours Dennis in next month let me know how it goes.
 
You lot know I'm easily led, order going in tonight. The reason I've never considered it before it's I assumed it would only suit Belgium beers but have been extremely impressed with their special B malt in my English beers.

Damn you've just cost me an extra £4 ;) I must be easily led too

Just used the last of my big bag of MO along with everything else in the malt bin in a leftovers brew

Put an order in with Rob including some of that lovely sounding Dingemans Pale...now hat to make with it?
 
Arrived today, cheers Rob, and have to say the aroma did not disappoint. My first thought was that's the dogs dangles but probably not the best description of a smell.
 
Used this malt for the first time today. About 25% of the pale malt used was the last of my crisp's malt. My first impressions, gravity was about 3 points higher than expected, :D and a quick taste of the wort makes me think this is going to be a nice malty beer. :cheers:
 
Now halve way through the first polypin using said malt and have to say it's very nice. Not so much a more malty taste just a different malt taste, almost a slightly fruity malt if that makes sense. The beer was only lightly hopped as I wanted to sample the malt but the next few pins should be interesting, a 5.8% beer for Xmas followed by a 6.2% one both with a bit more hops. Will need to get another sack next, for research purposes of course. Mind you the golden promise is a few pounds more :hmm:
 
Would this malt add some oomph to a nice heavy imperial stout, do you think? Not that my last recipe needs much more oomph, but variety is the spice of life n all that :-)

I think that I might have asked this question before but here it goes again!
Do people brew wheat beer because they are closet cider drinkers or is it simply that they have difficulty in brewing a nice bright pint?
