I started a gorse wine in a fermenting bucket a few days ago after ordering some additional demijohns. It was meant to be 24 hour delivery so I figured that, at worse, they'd turn up by today. Unfortunately they haven't shown up and the wine is ready to be strained and transferred to a demijohn but obviously I've nothing to put it in. The real trouble is that I'm going away for a few days tomorrow so hoping they turn up or finding a high street supplier is out.

So as far as I can tell my options are

1. Leave sealed in bucket until I return on Thursday.
2. Strain and leave in bucket
3. As 1 but leave a small gap/covered with cloth for CO2 to escape.
4. As 2 but with a small gap/cloth

What is my best option or is there something I haven't thought of?

In my limited experience, I would say 4.

If you have Wilkinsons near you, they sell DJs for £6 each. Or do what I generally do, buy a 5 litre water bottle from Tescos and use that (costs £1.10).

Where abouts do you live? If you're near Newmarket/Cambridge way then I've got a spare one you could borrow.

I was quite surprised to find the demis in Lakeland weren't horribly overpriced

The 5l water bottle may be best move, it's quick and cheap and widely available
Make a hole in the cap for the lock or bung&lock, if not perfect any non-toxic sealant for the gaps - even playdoh would work

Cheers. Option 4 implemented. Hopefully it will be okay when I get back.

Nice to know that Wilkos stock this stuff. There's not one anywhere particularly close but the extra miles would have been worth it in this instance.

If you are not setting off early you could try the local car boot sale, i often see DJ's for sale at ours.
