Hi anyone used sodium thiosulphate for dechlorinating? I use it in my fish tank at a rate of 0.1 to 0.2g per 10 ltr of water so it's not a strong solution. And it's cheap! I pay £2.67 per 110g delivered. Anyone think of a reason not to use it ? Saves me having lots of different chemicals. I clean and sterilise with brewclean btw.

Most people use Campden powder which is sodium metabisulfite which is pretty cheap.
I'm guessing this would be OK too as you use so little anyway.

I just looked up Sodium thiosulfate on wikepidia ... and I'm none the wiser.... apart from cleaning the water in fish tanks as you said the only thing I understood was they use it to clean swimming pools when they have put too much chlorine in....

Thanks for the replies when I get the time i'll start a brew with it and report back!! It's also used as an antidote for cyanide and iodine poisoning (so remember this if swmbo suddenly takes an interest in brewing and presents you with an almond flavored ale)
