First brew in ages, nearly arsed up the CaCO3 calcs by being out by an order of magnitude. Luckily I couldn't believe the water was that hard and read the instructions again. Use 1ml not 0.1ml ...doh
Water is heated, time to get the mash on. Pics should follow barring disaster.

preboil 1044 so maybe going to be a little weaker but that is OK. Enjoying a pint of Bobek ale courtesy of Jake from the NCBA meet at Saltaire Brewery (swapped for one of my Steam Hat beers).

The Bobek ale is clear as a bell and I think has improved with a little time in the cellar from my memory of it at Skipton. Citrussy nose and taste as you would expect, quite crisp with a pleasant bitterness lovely for summer. Nice to have a bit of variety

The day in pictures, everything went pretty smoothly, although i did forget to turn the switch for the cooling circuit on (there is always someting) so the wort was a little warmer than I would have liked (20 degrees). Still fine for the yeast according to whitelabs, so no big deal.

The yeast, a 3l starter in a demijohn. Most of the wort in the demi was poured off. Fermenting away this morning, 22l @1049 so a touch short and a touch under gravity but nothing alarming.
