hey guys

i've started brewing with a couple of youngs wine kits and wondered if i need to de-gas these or is all flat wines de-gassed?

how would i know if i need to?

thanks

Easiest method is to rack it off the sediment then put your hand over the FV top (Demijohns and PET bottles) and shake it.. then let the gas escape and keep repeating quite a bit. you'll get to a point where there is very little gas.. then i just leave it so any extra sediment falls to the bottom.. before i bottle my wine.

Cheers

As far as I know you need to degas all Wines because of the CO2 produced during fermentation. There isn't something special in the kits the does it for you.

Peapodmasters explanation is exactly what I do aswell and I never had problems.

If your body is knackered as mine is, its a lot easier with a twirly stick and a cordless drill, cheers Dave NE
