Hi,

I am new to this home brewing game and was enjoying the whole process - until now.....

I am doing a Lager from a kit and set it all going about 8 days ago. The O.G was 1032 and after 8 days it has dropped to 1020 which apparently seems to be about as far as it's going to go as there are no more bubbles rising. If my maths is correct then that's about 2.5% ABV ??

It's in my kitchen being kept relatively warm by the side of my Fridge.

Do I need to add some more sugar and yeast to re-start it again, if so, how much for a 40 pint kit, or is this just a case of 'better luck next time'?

Cheers

As Cuss says. :thumb:
An original gravity of 1032 sounds a bit low, are you correcting the reading for temperature. Is your hydrometer reading right.
With an original gravity of 1032 down to 1020, the Forum calculator gives 1.6 % , if it goes down to 1010 you will get2.9 %.
That 1032 cannot be right. :? Not a kit man myself but did you follow the instructions. ;)

First off a lager should not be "warm." Lager yeast is supposed to ferment at a constant 52-55* until the temp is gradually raised 2* a day for a diacytal rest. Due to the lower fermentation temps, lagers take months to finish sometimes. My ales get 21 days in the conical at 59* degrees. My lagers get 72 days at 53*. Due to the cooler temps and high stress situation lager yeast are put into, a large starter really should be done to get them to attenuate fully.
