Can someone help out a poor hard of thinking mod here? So the woman in the vid is say that the grainfather company owner has been making youtube vids about the grainfather and saying how good it is but not stating that their the owner of the company?

Not the owner no, that was an illustrative example that if the owner made a video it would be obvious they were promoting it.

The point is David Heath has a relationship that he hasn’t previously disclosed. I’ve never watched any of his videos but to be perfectly honest, having heard his side of the story I don’t think I would avoid them for that reason. And I say that as a big fan of Sarah’s videos too.

Jump to 3:40 and he says he started using a GF and they noticed his channel and supplied him with products to test and he reviewed them if he liked them he later went on to sub-contract for them (seminars in the Nordics) but says his youtube reviews were and are independent and to be honest i think he is telling the truth why would he lie?

In my opinion you can not be a sub-contactor for a company and be totally impartial

Agreed and if you’re reviewing equipment you were given that should be disclosed. It doesn’t invalidate the review but viewers should know so they can factor it in

I guess if you are a car salesman for Ford you are going to tell customers its the best car in the world for their budget but he was promoting the product in seminars so i am not sure he would be so biased if doing a Grainfather v another all in one system comparison on his youtube channel, i haven't watched enough of his system reviews to see if this is the case as his voice does my head in.

I have watched David for a long time and albeit he can send you to sleep there are some pearls in his vids however its alright him saying how good the GF is which is all well and good but a lot of people have forgot how he has rubbished other products while sub-contracting it is that that sticks with me. I was always taught to sing the praise but not to put down or belittle the other products too much as it is a slightly biased opinion but unfortunately some people can not read between the lines and believe everything they are told

As usual in these cases Chippy its hard to see where the truth absolutely lies. If you believe what David says he is not completely innocent but should have made things clearer as these relationships happened. Sarah in the meanwhile is a very respected beer judge and maybe she has seen things that in her mind that are not morally correct only time will tell but it is going to be interesting to see it unfold and if anybody has to eat humble pie at the end

Watched many of DH's video's including the one from yesterday, either way if it's an honest video or a slight of hand in covering up his business dealings, who really cares, if someone gave me a grainfather and asked me to make video's whilst using it, I would probably do the same. It's a cynical world we are residing in, so who really knows. One way of measuring the significance of events like this is to measure it against the serious events happening today. This just seems like people gas bagging for no real reason. there thats my 2 cents worth of gas.

Hi David I totally agree with what you said but the issue is that if he has been given a GF and has/had a relationships in one way or another that is fine too but the problem comes when he does not say I am going to extol it virtues but begins to rubbish products he has not been given and damaging other makers at the expense of a alleged free GF - not ethical if it is true

It would seem he has upset a part of the home brew community by not admitting he worked for them and therefore his reviews have to be biased i guess they have a point but has anyone ever bought (or not bought) a system on the advice of one person on a youtube channel if they have they need their heads read.

Seen most of his video's not seen him rubbish other peoples products, think he may have mentioned the price of the braumeister in a video, I would suggest that if someone spends hours making video's only really using one companies products, it would seem nieve to be shocked if something like this was revealed. but I see your point regarding ethics, but one thing I know if you dig deep enough we all have maybe chosen the left hand path sometimes.

Yeah I think we've all been on the dark side at sometime just some darker than others. Oh and just got this reply back from David Heath in the last hour on his thoughts on the system I bought "Oh dear. The Ace? Is that the same as the Bulldog? If so yes I did cover it and I said why it is junk" so there you go on him rubbishing other systems while in the time he has been accused of co- habitating with GF. His actual words
