I have been given 2 brewferm dark liquid extract cans 45 ebc unhopped. I am thinking I will will try a porter or a stout with them. I have never before used extract (all grainer) and I am wondering if I am to do a porter with say .5kg choc malt, .250 black malt and .5 kg crystal will the dark extract make this undrinkable and overpowering? Having not used it before I am really at a loss as to what it will give me...I know it will give me fermentables but exactly what type of dark grain flavours I just don't know.
Anyone used dark before and with success? I plan to hop the **** out of it anyway but if I have an idea of how the extract will taste it'll help no end.
