No, there is no danger of producing any nasty alcohols in dangerous concentrations.
We don't discuss distillation for obvious legal reasons but even with this, the stories of people getting poisoned or blinded are mostly myths whose nugget of truth is that people do get poisoned by illegal spirits - not because illegal distillation is dangerous, but because illegal spirits are often adulterated with cheap industrial alcohols.
Home brewing is safe so long as you're not fermenting anything that was poisonous to start with and so long as you consume the product responsibly.
