Cutting Stainless Steel Braided Hose

Does anyone have any good suggestions for cutting stainless steel braided hose? The peice I have is a bit too long for my boiler and I need to cut it back to make it fit.

Put masking tape round bit you want to cut and use fine hacksaw or tin snips.

Wrap hose in masking / insulation tape for 1" either side of the cut line - saves fingers getting punctured by the braid!
Several ways to cut depending on size of hose, spec of braid & what tools you have to hand:
- sharp blow with good condition cold chisel, hammer & hard surface (eg back of vice)
- sharp tin snips
- fine toothed hacksaw
- angle grinder with cutting blade (pref thin 1mm blade)

I regularly make up braided fuel, oil and brake lines - generally I use an angle grinder.
Obviously with angle grinder and hacksaw you create more debris to wash out of the line.

I have got it done. Used some masking tape and a sharp pair of scissors. Needed to sharpen then a couple of times during the process but it didn't take long.

Here is a wee pic of it in place. Still need to clip it in place though.

I wrapped it in duct-tape and cut with a hacksaw :thumb:
