Hi - i have bought some crown caps and the EMILY red crown capper, and while i can cap bottles such as Stella / Budweiser used bottles, it will not properly cap the real ale bottles which are the ones i really need.

The necks on the real ale bottles are slightly different and the little ridge is nearer to the top of the bottle meaning that my tool cannot grip it properly?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Yeah the knock on will work but also the bench capper which is much safer and far less effort involved for doing 40+ bottle runs.
Have heard of knock on ones breaking bottles if too hand fisted.

The hammer-on cappers are OK as long as you're careful. I preferred it to the Emily type in the end. Seemed to require less effort, and I once snapped a neck with the Emily but never with the hammer-on.
Have a newspaper under the bottle for a little cushioning, use a rubber mallet.
Then buy a bench capper, worth every penny of the 30quid.
