Bought a sack of Crisp's Marris Otter from The Maltmiller last week. Rob said he would appreciate some feedback as it's a new product for him. So first brew today and first impression, very good. No problems at all with the mash, sparge or run off and the extraction rate was slightly up on what I normally get with Fawcetts. Nice and evenly crushed and cheaper then Fawcetts providing the end result is good it looks like Rob has come up trumps. :thumb:

Fawcetts 22.50 at Murphys, but if Crisp is better, I may give that a go

Murphy's don't have as big variety of hops and yeast as The Maltmiller. So I will stick with Rob.

One of the many things I like about Rob (The Malt Miller) as a supplier, is he's always available on the 'phone for a quick word of advice or to answer a question (however daft) :thumb: Nice guy, good supplier :thumb:

Blimey £23 for Maris, that is dirt cheap! Crisps malt is good stuff. Surprised considering the MO harvest was the worst of all the barley harvests just gone.

Anyone used Baird's Malt from Grantham, I had in mind that they were very competitive on price, but I can't find any prices on the web site. :?

If you like loads of malt flour in the grind and lots of crud in your underback, & plenty of scum round your copper post boil, Bairds is tops, It makes pretty good beer all the same though.

:hmm: I'll take that as a recommendation I think, if the price is right. :D
Thanks UP

Crisps is better malt than Baird's & I have used both recently, I paid £19 + delivery for the Crisps & £12.50 collected for the Bairds.

The Crisps was just better in so many ways.

I use marris otter in all of my English style beers. I have been quite happy with it for a number of years. I get a 55 pound sack of it unmilled for about 55.00 USD.
